Dark Horse Institute Policies and Procedures
Otherwise Known as “The Fine Print”
Enrollment Procedures and Admissions Policy
To be considered for enrollment, you must have an admissions interview, fill out our admission application, and submit your app fee. We will need a photocopy of your driver’s license for your student file. Due to the limited amount of seats available, there will be no enrollment allowed after the enrollment deadline has passed.
Dark Horse Institute is a highly intensive program. Failure to attend will negatively affect how much you get out of the course. We do not allow a student to miss any more than 3 days of the program, without risking their enrollment status. If a student has extraordinary circumstances (i.e. death in family or illness), it is up to the student to receive written permission from the President or Institutional Director along with any agreement for re-entering the program at a later date.
Grading and Testing
At the completion of each two-week period, the students will have to complete practical examinations on the topics covered in each segment. Instructors will give a pass/fail grade to each student. Any student receiving a failing mark in any of the segments will be given the opportunity to retake the practical examination at a time convenient to the student and the instructor.
Student Rules of Conduct
In the interest of efficient and safe operation, and to protect the well-being and rights of all students, it is necessary to observe certain rules of conduct. Students are expected to become familiar with these rules and observe them without exception. If any rules are unclear, please consult your advisor or other Dark Horse Institute staff. Violation of rules is cause for disciplinary action and/or expulsion.
Cancellation and Refund Policies
The student understands that they may terminate their enrollment according to the Refund Policy section. The student may also terminate enrollment if upon a doctor’s order, if they cannot physically receive the services, or if the services cease to be offered. If the student terminates enrollment for either of these reasons, Dark Horse Institute may keep a portion of tuition as described in detail in the Refund Policies section. The official date of termination will be determined by the last day of class as recorded in the daily attendance log.
Other Regulations and Policies
If I am accepted for admission by Dark Horse Institute, I agree to abide by the regulations and policies as set forth in the catalog, together with all other policies, procedures, and student conduct codes, and the schedule of tuition, fees, and expenses, and as stated in this agreement. I certify that the information that I have provided in this application is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I fully realize that omission or falsification of information will be sufficient reason for rejection of this application or for dismissal.
I understand that Dark Horse Institute also reserves the right to cancel my enrollment if Dark Horse Institute determines (1) that I have not demonstrated sufficient potential for success as determined by the Admissions Committee and/or (2) that I do not meet all financial obligations related to enrollment and continuing enrollment.
I understand that my financial obligations to Dark Horse Institute must be paid in full, unless in good standing under the financial payment plan, before a certificate of completion may be awarded. The application for admission and the catalog, together with other published policies and procedures and student conduct codes shall constitute the entire agreement between the student and Dark Horse Institute. I understand and agree that they supersede any prior or contemporaneous oral or written agreements or statements and may not be modified without the written agreement of the Dark Horse Institute. I also understand that this Agreement constitutes a binding contract upon acceptance by Dark Horse Institute. This contract or note is for future consumer services and puts all assignees on notice of the consumer’s right to cancel under the Tennessee’s Fair Trade Rule.
