The New Console: Solid State Logic 6000E

This past Saturday we brushed off the sleep fairies to wake up extremely early (OK 7am is early for Audio People) for a special delivery.  That delivery was our new (old, but new to us) SSL 6000E Series Console!  Check out some of our photos below and I’ll tell ya a little about them!

This is How she came to us, all strapped in and cozy like. On the left of course is the console. On the right is the massive power supply and the legs wrapped up.
We let Dave, Colin and Jason do the honors of unwrapping her.

First glimpse of the modules. Just a tip for when you send your SSL or any console, you should remove each of the consoles. We removed each and had to carry each through the rain.

The First Few Modules removed. We had to be very careful where we set them so we had 4x4, 12" foam baffles with moving blankets on them.

Great photo of the original cards. Actaully pretty hard to find. We were thrilled that this had them intact.

Here is the Computer opened up. Checkin out the cards and master controls. If you are unfamiliar with SSL's they have a track that they run on and lock in the up position like you see for inspections and card replacement.

As you can see each module is incredibly intricate.
As you can see each module is incredibly intricate.  Each will have to be tested in it’s bucket and measured against the master settings.  Quite the process so we will keep you up to date with that and be sure to bring you the first time she is fired up!
Here she is after a long day, we gave her a breather.
